LOST but NOT forgotten...

Faith
First and foremost, my dogs are my companions.
They surround me 24/7 and comfort me in times of
happiness and grief. I choose to bring them into my world, and I hold them as they leave my world.

The Rainbow Bridge
I like to think they are all together again...

AM/CAN CH. CAR-RAE HIGH HOPES O'BERNHUGEL, CD, HIC
"CASSIE"
May 23, 1988-April 20, 1994 (cancer)
BG 4784
I waited many years for my first Bernese and she was a great introduction to the breed's gentle nature, dedicated worker, and loving companion. She also introduced me to the heartaches of breeding issues, and early death.
Many of my current breeding decisions lead back to the lessons that "Cassie" taught me.

CH. CAR-RAE'S DESSA V VIERAUGLI
"DESSA"
September 14, 1991-2001 (cancer)
BG 7609
My first home-bred Bernese champion.
She earned her majors by winning Best of Breed from the Bred-By Exhibitor classes.

HIT CAR-RAE'S AJAX V LEGEND, CGC, CD, NDD, CDX, BNDD, DD, BDD, NAP
BMDCA WORKING DOG AWARD
HIGH IN TRIAL (1998 SPECIALTY)
"AJAX"
December 8, 1996 - April 15, 2005 (histiocytosis)
BG 16698
My first boy. He didn't become a part of my breeding program, but he was the best worker.
He loved to train and learn.
When away from me, he would wait at the door of others, waiting for my return.
Diagnosed with cancer four months before he died, he and I slowly said goodbye to one another.
He loved the farm. He loved life.

"ABBY"
December 8, 1996 - July 28, 2006 (Pneumonia)
BG 35857
Abby was my pick girl from the "A" litter. Unfortunately, her hips were dysplastic. She had gold beads implanted in the muscles surrounding her hips and went on to live a long life of adventures. She helped several dogs obtain their brace novice draft dog titles. She was one of the sweetest berner girls to grace this earth.

"BABE"
(litter sister to Ajax & Abby)
December 8, 1996 - 2006
Babe was failing to thrive as a puppy. She was discovered to have PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus) at her 6 week vet check. At 8 weeks, her heart condition was surgically fixed and she went to live her life with friends of mine. For the girl who wasn't supposed to live, she lived an amazing life including being awarded "Texas Dog of the Year" for keeping her dad warm by laying on him when his small plane was landed for a night. She also alerted her family to burglars and found a person with disabilities who wandered away from her home. An amazing girl!

"CHAYA"
NDD, HCT-s, JHD-s
October 18, 2001 - 2011 (old age)
BG 37237
Chaya didn't really like to show, wasn't fond of obedience either. But when she worked sheep that light turned on. She taught me a lot about herding.
Chaya lived with my friends, their first berner.

BMDCA WORKING DOG & WORKING DOG EXCELLENT AWARDS
November 28, 2002 - November 11, 2017 (old age)
BG 18722
Dyna was the pick girl from the "D" litter. She went to live with Carol in Virginia and while Dyna didn't become a show dog, she was a "superstar" in performance events, especially herding. Carol and Dyna did everything together, and together they worked magic. Just two weeks shy of 15 years of age when she passed.

CAR-RAE'S TROTTIN' TO EMMETT
CD, NDD, DD, JHD-s
BMDCA WORKING DOG AWARD
"EMMETT"
December 8, 2003 - December 13, 2011
(Adrenal Carcinoma) BG20840
Emmett was a working companion. Only my second boy to keep, he didn't beome a show dog, but he exceled at performance events. He LOVED to work! He was also just as happy to be laying on the couch beside me.

CH. CAR-RAE'S FIESTA FEVER, NDD
"FIESTA"
December 9, 2006 - May 28, 2014
(suspected brain cancer) BG44981
Fiesta was named for the Boise State Broncos the year they won the Fiesta Bowl. I picked her out as a favorite a few hours after she was born as her head was just so beautiful! Fiesta went to live with a young junior handler and together they enjoyed many awards and ribbons.

BLUE OCTOBER AIYSHA FLEUR, CD
"AIYSHA"
June 8, 2010 - September 29, 2014 (see below)
Aiysha was imported from Slovenia (K. Stempihar)
She was the such a sweet girl and a most careful and attending dam. She loved her puppies. Sadly, after the "M" litter, Aiysha died unexpectedly from a torn blood vessel. The very saddest day as a breeder. Orphaned were 8 beautiful "M" puppies who taught me so much about motherhood in the first three weeks of life.
Gone, but always in my heart,
my sweet, sweet girl.

CH. CAR-RAE'S LIEBEN DES LECHTES, RN, CD, NDD
BMDCA VERSATILITY AWARD
"LUCA"
September 13, 2013 - March 22, 2021
(Osteosarcoma) BG106153
My third boy to keep here at Car-Rae. Again, not just a companion, but an outstanding working dog. My first home-bred BMDCA Versatility dog. The boy who spent time dropping bones and toys in my lap as I achieved my PhD in Educational Leadership letting me know it was "break time". Swimming was his love. He even loved dock diving even though he didn't jump very far! His photo is from his last day on earth doing what he loved to do. Until we meet again, my boy....
